Where is Hoonah? Hoonah is located on northeast Chichagof Island, which is the northernmost major island in the Alexander Archipelago. It is 40 air miles west of Juneau, Alaska's capital city. With no connecting roadway to the mainland, the town is reached by air service providers and a state ferry system. |

Small aircraft companies provide daily flights from Juneau and neighboring communities to Hoonah. The flight from Juneau takes approximately twenty minutes. The Hoonah Airport has a 3000 foot paved runway with a large apron that can accommodate private aircraft. |
